Verruca
What is a Verruca?
Verrucae are a form of wart caused by viruses that are present in our enviroment. There are many types of verrucae/warts and are famously difficult to clear up ; few of us will have escaped them in a life time. The human papilloma virus which we typically associate with effecting the palms and soles of the feet, will be skin coloured small flattened and round with black specks or cover larger areas of the foot (known as mosaic). They are sometimes painful. Left to themselves they can take between 6 weeks and 10 years to resolve without treatment. If you have had a verruca for about 8 years it is important to get it checked immediatly by the Podiatrist or your GP.
Verruca Treatment
Traditional verruca treatments can take weeks to cure the verruca but here at the Ivy Clinic we are delighted to offer a freezing technique called Cryosurgery, which may clear a verruca in one treatment depending on its size. It is well tolerated by adults and children above the age of 5.
